HOUSTON – The rich storytelling traditions of Houston’s Black independent filmmakers will take center stage at the Local Filmmaker Showcase, happening Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at River Oaks Theatre. This highly anticipated event is proudly sponsored by SWAMP (Southwest Alternate Media Project), TSU Film Club, and the Center for Africana Futures, celebrating the powerful voices of student and faculty filmmakers from Texas Southern University (TSU).
Audiences will experience a night of original short films and documentaries that reflect the diverse narratives and creative perspectives shaping Houston’s independent film scene. Each film is a testament to the talent emerging from TSU and the broader Black creative community.
