Black Digital Humanities and Afrofutures Research Hours

The Center for Africana Futures (CAF) kicked off the academic year with open house days on September 3-4, 2024. Students from diverse disciplines gathered to explore the dynamic intersection of Africana studies, digital humanities, and Afrofuturism. The open house provided a glimpse into CAF's exciting projects and opportunities, including an introduction to cutting-edge research methods and media studies focusing on Black futures.

Students were engaging in thoughtful conversations with CAF Graduate Assistants and the CAF Director, Dr. Toniesha Taylor. The energy throughout the two days reflected growing interest in the Black Digital Humanities, and many students expressed eagerness to get involved with CAF's initiatives.

CAF invites students to participate in the weekly Black Digital Humanities and Afrofutures Research Hours for those who missed the event or want to deepen their knowledge. This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from graduate assistants, Dr. Taylor, and others who are passionate about digital humanities research methods and Afrofuturism. Whether you’re interested in how technology intersects with Black cultural expression or curious about media studies through an Afrofuturist lens, these research hours will provide valuable insights and community. Don't miss out on this enriching learning experience—join us and become part of the future of Africana scholarship!
